Golf at Wairakei International
The course lies in 450 acres of lush rolling countryside and was developed to meet the rigorous design standards required for world-class championship competition. Natural contours coupled with 6,414 metres of championship tees and 180 bunkers have led to world acclaim. Skirting the edges of active geothermal fields John Harris used the volcanic contours to sculpt fairways, elevate tees and greens and bury hazards within the natural landscape. Wairakei Golf Course allows for golfers of all skill levels to enjoy our social tournament.
Tongariro River Fly Fishing
Whether you are an experienced fly fisherman or a complete novice you will find fly fishing both a delight and a challenge. The world-renowned Tongariro River is classed as one of the best fly fishing rivers in the world and is also New Zealand’s most popular fishing location. Fishing in pairs your guide will take you to your destination in pursuit of the Big Fish prize. Both Rainbow and Brown trout frequent these waters
Formula Challenge
at Taupo Motorsport Park
The course is tailored to suit the complete novice or the experienced road car driver who wants a taste of what it is like to drive a Formula Challenge single-seater race car. Before you get behind the wheel, your Motorsport New Zealand qualified driving instructor will take you around the track to reinforce your earlier classroom tuition and familiarise you with the racetrack. No experience is required. Choose from a single seater race car or Holden or Ford V8 race car.
Mountain biking or walk with boat cruise
A great activity for those undecided couples, both mountain bikers and walkers will set off on the same boat, and be dropped at a location on the shores of Lake Taupo to start your adventure – the Mountain Bikers heading one way and the walkers the other. The walkers and mountain bikers will finish in the same spot, board the boat and enjoy a BBQ lunch while cruising back to the marina with a spot of fishing and clay bird shooting.
Jet Boating Huka Falls
This half hour of thrills, fun and excitement takes you along a beautiful river environment, lined with native bush, sheer rock cliff face and hot water streams. Hold on tight as you'll be travelling in one of our state of the art jet boats at an incredible 80km an hour! From your unique vantage point on the jet boat you will have the best water level view of Huka Falls – New Zealand’s most visited natural attraction. There will be a morning session and an afternoon session. If you would like to do the afternoon session you can choose this activity as well as another activity, as the afternoon session will run when most other activities are finished.
Your choice of Spa Treatment
Lie back and enjoy a wonderful treatment, with one of Huka Lodge’s qualified beauty therapists, in the comfort of your room. These treatments range from massages and facials, to manicures and pedicures.
